FRED BUTLER SOUNDTRACK AW12

Fred Butler’s acclaimed return to London Fashion Week continues to go from strength to strength with the presentation of her Autumn Winter 2012 collection.

Offering another unmistakably Fred Butler experience, her signature psychedelic approach to colour and boundary defying perspectives are easily spotted a mile off – it’s clear to see why this designer is favoured by the likes of Lady Gaga, La Roux and Bjork.

Entitled “Tank Top-Ranking, Tongue-Tied and Twisted”, the collection was inspired by a quilted ski jacket Fred Butler once made with swirling stitches evoking Sushi rolls. Colours are based on a Sushi-inspired palette of washed out Wasabi greens, pickled ginger soft pinks, caviar coral oranges, subtle salmon flesh tones and monochrome black and white mimicking the contrast of rice against seaweed wraps. Yummy.

As well as working on another eye-popping collection, the partnership of fashion and music has always been an important part of Fred’s work and this season, as part of a collaboration enabled by Red Bull Catwalk Studio, Fred has been working with Charli XCX on a bespoke soundtrack. The exclusive track will be performed live by Charli at Fred’s London Fashion Week presentation and will be available for free download from the Red Bull website now.

Charli XCX said “Working with Fred has been an amazing experience, I think fashion and music are intrinsically linked so it’s an honour to be part of Fashion Week with her. We’ve worked on the soundtrack for her show, and the song that’s come out of it sounds like a tropical explosion of colour and magic”.
