What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a professional baseball player.
What’s the worst club you’ve ever been to?
I would have to say Pacha in Moscow. The layout looks like a strip club and the DJ booth is in the stratosphere. I don’t want to watch the party, I want to be in the party!
What’s been your worst job?
Working the night shift at a factory, stuffing envelopes.
What are you obsessed with right now?
I’m obsessed with Ableton Live.
And what do you hate right now?
Politics.
When and where were you your happiest?
When I was at a hospital in Brooklyn watching my son Brandon enter the world. I thought it was the most incredible thing I ever saw.
How do you describe what you do to someone who doesn’t know you?
It really depends on the moment. But I’m usually very straightforward.
Have you ever been arrested? And if so, what for?
Yes, I’ve been arrested three times. Twice for graffiti, and once for possession of a dangerous weapon. It all happened when I was a juvenile. It’s how I got my front tooth cracked.
What’s the best record ever made?
‘Lovely Day’ by Bill Withers.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Save your money for a rainy day.
Who’s your all-time hero and why?
I would have to say [Def Mix co-founder] Judy Weinstein. She is the most honest person that I’ve ever met. She has been a major influence both personally and professionally. She is also my best friend.
What do you collect – apart from records?
I collect teddy bears from around the world.
What’s your vice?
Adidas trainers, and my sound system.
Who was your first love, and what happened?
Her name was Esther. I was 13 years old. I lost my virginity to her.
What were you doing at 2pm last Sunday afternoon?
I was at the airport in Ibiza on my way to Benidorm.
What’s your answer to everything?
‘Whatever’.
On a scale of one to 10, how good are you in the sack?
Twenty.
What’s your most prized possession that you’ve still got from when you were a kid?
My first Crown D150 amplifier.
Have you ever had a homosexual experience?
Do I really need to answer that? No!
What was your last treat for yourself?
A new gold chain and bracelet.
What do you spend your money on?
Anything that I desire. Fashion, food, jewellery, a good time.

I’m trying not to have one at this stage of my life.

My bluntness.

A watermelon-coloured thong.
