The Supperclub is a combination of a lying down restaurant in which the food is brought to your bed or a dancing around nightclub with all the bells and whistles of a proper club. It all depends what time you get there.
There are Supperclub's around the world, from LA to West London, however this weekend Mixmag was in Amsterdam so popped in for din-dins. Identical to the London and San Fran's branches, Amsterdam's Supperclub is all brilliant white floors, walls and fixtures and beds along two sides of a warehouse space. It feels more like heaven's VIP room than a restaurant.
On entering you're taken to a bed and instead of menu's are asked if you have allergies or are veggie. Following that your brought five courses of delicious nosh as a DJ slowly builds up the atmosphere from chilled out to lively, at about the same pace as your wine takes effect. The meal was broken up by a captivating gymnast who stripped out of a burka to performed tricks off a 20 foot shower curtain.
The food was excellent. Tempura chicken, mushroom soup, cod with risotto, beef with veg followed by coconut icecream with a mango sauce. The waiters were as unique as the menu and the tunes ranged from the up-front to the obvious but everything worked beautifully.
Supperclub isn't for everyone, and at €50 a head without drinks it's not that cheap - but as an experience it's unforgettable and something different for those wanting more from their meal time.
